Introducing Women’s Big Cricket Month in Yorkshire

June 8, 2021 by John Fuller

For the latest Cricket Yorkshire Podcast episode, I caught up with Katie Stewart, Women and Girls’ Club & League Development Manager for West Yorkshire at the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

Up for discussion is Women’s Big Cricket Month throughout June with lots happening across Yorkshire. We chat about her role working with cricket clubs and also the importance of soft ball festivals as a route to start playing the game with friends.

Enjoy the podcast below and thanks to Katie for being a guest…

The Yorkshire Cricket Board has a number of excellent resources relating to women and girls’ cricket that are well worth checking out.

Their Shining the Light blog highlights stories at all levels of the game and gives a voice to coaches, players and clubs who are doing fantastic work in cricket.

A new addition is a chat show, hosted by Amna Rafiq, that sees Clare Sanderson of Old Leos Cricket Club talking about her work with Chance to Shine and the Heera-Ranis Street project in the first episode.

Other guests are Tayaba Parveen, volunteer at Bradford Jaguars Women’s team and Nicola Saunders who is an ECB coach and founded Tickhill Cricket Club Ladies.

There’s nothing else like it out there and is highly recommended.
