Our website partner, British Recycled Plastic, offered cricket clubs a chance to win an Ilkley Recycled Plastic Bench with Sloped Backrest (Black or Brown) worth over £500!
**THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW CLOSED – but you can still read about the products below….
This traditional bench comfortably seats three adults and the arms help those who need a bit of extra support when moving between sitting and standing.
These Ilkley benches are fully assembled and available in black, brown and grey with a wide range of colours on black frames.
They are made in the UK from British waste plastic and amount to 102.46kg of embodied carbon that contains the equivalent of 5,222 one pint milk containers.
- There is currently a terrific ‘Buy more Save More’ offer on their picnic tables and benches (buy 2 or more and save up to £500).
- British Recycled Plastic have free shipping on their benches and picnic tables across mainland UK (except for the Highlands, Islands, and Northern Ireland).

Popular with cricket clubs
British Recycled Plastic products are used by cricket clubs like York CC who bought memorial benches as a long-term seating solution that’s quick to clean, looks great, doesn’t get damaged and can be a meaningful spot for members and family to visit.
Last year, York Cricket Club needed to replace wooden benches at Clifton Park that had begun to rot, were wobbly and required maintenance.
Trustee Rob Flack told me:
“We took the decision to replace these benches with the BRP Ilkley benches as we wanted a design that looks like a traditional bench and we wanted arms (old cricketers need support to get up from benches!).

York CC replaced five of their wooden benches, all of which were donated in memory of former players and supporters. All of these benches are in front of the red brick wall close to the scoreboard and are a popular place for spectators to sit.
Rob said: “Over the next couple of years, we intend to replace many more of our benches, using the British Recycled Plastic Ilkley bench. Our members and supporters are interested in dedicating them to former players and family members.”
On their back pitch, York also positioned three backless benches – the Oakworth – under the trees between them and Clifton Alliance Cricket Club.
“We chose British Recycled Plastic products as they have very long warranties, are very easy to maintain, they are very sturdy and they look great.”

Why choose British Recycled Plastic?
Buying durable seating and picnic benches made from 100% recycled plastic saves more waste from ending up in landfill.
These benches come with a 25-year guarantee so your club is getting excellent value over the long term. But perhaps the most important reasons to buy, other than the environmental, are the practical benefits for volunteers.
