Safeguarding responsibilities for a cricket club are vital to get right but not without admin and careful thought.
In this content partnership with Teamo, we’ll look at how clubs can use their digital safeguarding features to help volunteers.

Why digital safeguarding tools matter
Safeguarding extends across a cricket club to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience of the game. Managing communication, permissions and key information for the right people is an important part of that responsibility.
Paper-based systems create gaps. Registration forms get lost. Attendance sheets blow away. Emergency contact details are at home when you’re at an away fixture. Parents text coaches directly rather than through monitored channels.
Teamo was built with safeguarding in mind and addresses this by keeping everything in one secure, role-controlled system where:
- Parents are always copied on communications with their children
- Emergency information travels with the team manager’s phone
- Attendance and sign-out records are timestamped and stored
- Club administrators can review communications if concerns arise
🔓 Teamo Safeguarding features
- Child-safe communication
For members who are under-18, their connected parent or guardian are copied into all chats. Not only that but there is permanent message history. Communications are never deleted which is critical if there is ever a safeguarding concern.
- Online attendance register
Coaches and team managers can track attendance to training and matches. They can record which parent or guardian collected each child. This creates a digital audit trail that aligns with ECB guidance on managing children away from the club and supports safeguarding best practice.
- Consent form collection
Parental permissions for photography, transport, medical treatment and juniors playing in open-age cricket can be gathered during registration and stored digitally, so they’re accessible when needed rather than buried in paperwork.
- Safeguarding Officer Access
A club’s designated welfare lead is able to monitor flagged content and access online communications.

- Family linking and profiles
Club admins can manage guardians and connections of dependents to ensure families have correct access within the Teamo app.
- Emergency Contact Details / Medical Info
The ability to respond quickly pitchside may rely on critical information in the event of an injury or incident – this is easily retrieved in the Teamo app.
The roles within Teamo mean that clubs can set access and permissions for members while parent / guardian access ensures availability, team calendars, newsfeeds and chats are co-managed for juniors.
As cricket clubs with junior sections know, they are required to meet the ECB’s Safe Hands Policy standards. Teamo provides practical tools that help clubs demonstrate compliance while reducing the admin burden on volunteers.

🎉 Teamo Offer with Cricket Yorkshire
Our feature here on safeguarding is just one of the areas that Teamo can assist your cricket club or team to be better organised online and help volunteers manage the admin.
If your current way of running membership, teams, selection, match fees and safeguarding online isn’t working well – then take a look at what Teamo can do.
There is an exclusive offer for Cricket Yorkshire readers where clubs can book a demo and if they sign up for Teamo, they pay nothing until April 2026.
In their no-obligation demo, it’s a way to see key features in action and coaches or committee can ask questions. There’s also this Product Overview of Teamo that’s useful for discussions.
You can also email Sophie Jackson-Wylde to discuss anything you’ve read in this article. All the best with your cricket club’s admin as the season comes closer!
