White Rose Trophy finalists decided
It’ll be a New Farnley Cricket Club vs Richmondshire Cricket Club final at Castleford Cricket Club this Saturday 28 September.
New Farnley bowled out hosts Cleethorpes for 207. Tom Keast (79), Gurman Randhawa (3-33), Usman Arshad (3-41) and Fletcher Coutts (3-39).
In reply, Steve Bullen (70) led the way as New Farnley reach the WRT final for the first time (as do Richmondshire actually).
Richmondshire dismissed Clifton Alliance for 166 (Joe Thompson 54, Josh Dowson 4-33, Caleb Bradford 3-34). The hosts promoted Shafiqullah Ghafari to open and his 94 off 68 did the damage in the seven-wicket win.
Sessay Emeralds are The Hundred Champions
In the replay of The Hundred Finals day for the Yorkshire Women & Girls Cricket League, Sessay Emeralds triumphed by 34 runs, to add to their league success.
After the Headingley showpiece was a partial washout, Walton Park Cricket Club offered their ground at short notice so the games could be played this season.
Sessay had already defeated Sheffield Collegiate and in the other semi-final, Saxton won against Doncaster Town, reaching the target of 45 off 5.3 overs. Grace Davis was the match-winner with 24 off 20 balls.
In the Final, Sessay Emeralds batted first and scored 136-3, thanks to a destructive 80 off 44 balls from Trudy Johnson. Saxton were shot out for 102 with Johnson capping a fine performance (2-13) and Clare Fairclough’s 3-25 stopping any thoughts of a Saxton win.
Craven Cricket League XI defeat Nidderdale Cricket League XI
The annual inter-league game at Pateley Bridge Cricket Club, as part of the Nidderdale Show saw the Craven League XI defeat the Nidderdale League.
The hosts scored 166 off their 40 overs with Bowling Baptists’ Mohammad Zulfiqar Khan (2-13) making early inroads. The Craven League rep side, captained by Sutton-in-Craven’s Dave Snowden (2-25) kept things tidy.
Jonny Thompson (2-20, Hepworth & Idle) & Dom Mortimer (3-28, SIlsden) were chipped in with further wickets as Opener Richard Harland scored 34.
After a leisurely lunch, the visitors lost three wickets including a smart leg-side stumping before Silsden’s Cameron Knowle played a magnificent knock with 103 off 80 balls to win the game.
Gargrave’s John Beckwith (32 not out) was the perfect foil at the other end with the Craven League winning in 23.5 overs (With thanks to Bill Marshall for his report).
Nidderdale League 166 (R Harland 34, S Abel 24, O Fryer 26, C Broadley 26no; M Zulfiqar Khan 2-13, D Mortimer 3-28, J Thompson 2-20, D Snowden 2-25), Craven League 168-3 (C Knowles 103no, J Beckwith 32no).
Ackworth win Vitality Club T20 Plate (jointly)
It rained and it rained in Derbyshire so no play was possible for the ECB National Club T20 finals day.
While there was a bowl-out indoors that meant Northern CC were crowned National Club T20 Champions against Oundle Town, things took a different turn in the Plate competition.
Both clubs decided a bowl-off wasn’t a great way to decide a national final (in the other game, the winner plays in the 2025 European Cricket League so they really needed to find a victor).
Therefore, congratulations to Ackworth Cricket Club of the Yorkshire Cricket Southern premier League who shared the T20 Plate with Old Elizabethan’s – there are plans for a 2025 game to crown the unofficial winner!
