In partnership with FrogBox, we’ll hear from a club who now has the FrogBox kit as they embark on live streaming this season – as well as mentions for those who purchased in 2024 and are developing what they do.
Live streaming club cricket is popular in Yorkshire and Cricket Yorkshire’s partnership has meant we’ve now done interviews across many leagues. Clubs of all sizes are using the FrogBox Go Streaming Pass to display live Play-Cricket scorecards and showcase sponsors. Meanwhile, access to Lilypad means clubs can easily curate and share clips on social media.
Darfield, Copley, Ripon and Higham (see interview) are just some of those clubs using FrogBox in 2025 for the first time to add a dimension to their cricket coverage, as well as attracting sponsorship and building a broader audience.
Last year, Upper Wharfedale, Sowerby Bridge Church Institute, Dunnington and Sheriff Hutton Bridge were a few examples in Yorkshire beaming their games on YouTube, along with overlaid Play-Cricket scores for a professional viewing experience.

Darfield Interview: Maximising sponsorship with FrogBox
Darfield Cricket Club is four miles east of Barnsley at the Smart Door Solutions Stadium on School Street. This village club has senior teams in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League as well as a ladies side and juniors from under nines to under seventeens.
They are noticeably proactive when it comes to sponsorship; thanking and promoting companies and individuals regularly and have chosen FrogBox as another smart way to achieve this – see the Darfield Cricket Club TV Channel.
The 2025 season is their debut beaming out match action on FrogBox across the world and I caught up with their Cricket Chairman Warren Bird to learn about their journey:
“We chose FrogBox because we feel it’s a lot better than NV Play which we have had in the past. You have sound and watching the streams online, you catch everything during the game so it feels like you are actually there at the ground.”
He added: “The quality of (FrogBox) stream is very good and the way we can advertise sponsors through the stream is unreal.”
Matchday set-up with Frogbox
As with any responsibility at a cricket club, live streaming needs someone to take ownership and make sure everything is set up on match day.
At Darfield, Warren said that it’s not just left to one person to do it all with the FrogBox kit:
“We have a scoring team who rotate home games and all know how to set it up for games, few teething issues to start with but pretty simple when you know what needs doing. It can be a tough job with weather but well worth it.”

The Darfield Way
While supporting your club sponsors is more than just slapping a logo onto a surface offline or online, you do need brand awareness. With Darfield, their sponsors are front and centre and FrogBox allows clubs to showcase sponsors at different points during matches.
The club has two live streaming backers:
“We have two main sponsors for our FrogBox and they’re Energise Energy Solutions and Energise Access Solutions who have paid towards the stream and we hope we can continue working together via the stream. They are very happy with how it looks online so we’re happy with that as a club.”
Darfield do a few things that caught my eye and are worth mentioning. FrogBox offer a number of logo positions on your club’s feed but even then, you can push the envelope.
They have combined two logos on the same top-right-hand position and both are clearly visible on YouTube. It might be appropriate for different parts of the same business group (rather than split the ad space) but either way, it’s a creative way to use online inventory.
They also have ad boards at the ground in view of the live stream for extra sponsor coverage.

6 tips for the best FrogBox experience
1. Solid foundations – Clubs tend to attach the FrogBox camera to a sightscreen or use an extendable tripod. If you’re based in a location that gets whipped up by high winds, think about how you can secure the camera solidly.
Wobbly footage is a quick turn-off if your live streamed league or cup game is bouncing around as if the viewer is on a ship out at sea!
2. Sound check – Again, windy locations can wreak havoc with sound quality. FrogBox’s Panasonic camera comes with a wind noise reduction kit but there are also mufflers online to reduce the weather effects on the mic.
Remember, you want as many viewers as possible for the club and your sponsors so don’t settle for a hurricane as a soundtrack. 😁
3. Sponsor logos – Clubs can now upload these themselves into the various positions on a live stream. Not everyone does but it’s a missed opportunity. If you haven’t sold a separate digital sponsorship then why not offer it to existing partners (also a good way to upsell for 2026)?

4. Sell a Half-season Pass – If your club is thinking of FrogBox in future, or maybe you have a kit but have yet to get started, why not sell a half-year package for the rest of 2025?
5. Logo design – Not everyone knows their way around Canva, file formats and the finer points of design. But, think about visibility on-screen. If your club sponsor is hard to read then consider a contrasting background to make it pop.
Save files at their maximum resolution using PNG and as large as you can. Image quality is fixed in a way that quality of a live stream might be impacted by bad weather or position of camera.
6. Google Ads – If your cricket club has opted to show Google Ads on YouTube before videos play to earn extra income, think carefully about how long for.
Do they earn enough to make it worthwhile? Usually not until you have a huge number of views and followers – so it might be a barrier rather than a bonus.
