The Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards, known as OSCAs, was held on Thursday 7th August when Yorkshire cricket honoured the achievements and service given by a range of volunteers within recreational cricket across the county.

Richard Wilkinson’s dad was one of these that wore every single hat from secretary to chairman; Richard would follow him as he played all weekend and midweek. The Wilkinsons are a cricketing family; one of many in Yorkshire with grandfather, father and son all heavily into the game.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that if you care about the game of cricket in any way, shape or form then completing the 2014 National Cricket Playing Survey can be your significant contribution to its future.

The Cricket History of Calderdale and Kirklees project began in 2004 when its founder and inspiration Peter Davies obtained a £43,000 grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund and other assistance from Huddersfield University.

We are about to attempt something radical on Cricket Yorkshire. We will take a subject, cricket insurance, that is ostensibly dull and dazzle you all with practical and ingenious considerations that will kickstart your day. We hope.
