It may interest many of you to find out who has moved clubs, and to what club, on the eve of the weekend where most cricket leagues across Yorkshire are meant to formally kick off their summer – though the weather has intervened.

York have recruited strongly over winter with spinner Dan Woods returning to skipper and Duncan Snell strengthening the batting, along with Joe Ashdown who joins from Clifton Alliance.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club spinner Karl Carver joins Matthew Fisher’s club, Sheriff Hutton Bridge, while Ben Coad moves to Harrogate from his home club, Studley Royal.

It’s all been happening over winter in time for the beginning of the Yorkshire South Premier League’s 2016 season.
Sheffield & Phoenix United is a brand new club – the result of a merger – and have recruited Azeem Rafiq as their skipper.
A number of current or former professional cricketers have joined teams: Maurice Chambers from Northamptonshire, ex-Lancs and Essex seam bowler Saj Mahmood and Derbyshire’s Tom Knight.
Rotherham Town are the league’s most prolific club securing an incredible 15 signings while Wickersley Old Village have strengthened their squad with eight new faces.

With the Central Yorkshire Cricket League merging into the Bradford Cricket League, there’s been a glut of transfers, those involved in the top flight are listed below.

For the highest placed Yorkshire team this season lies the carrot of a semi-final at Headingley, as the NYSDL representative, against the champions of the Bradford Cricket League.
Should a team from the North Yorkshire & South Durham Cricket League side prevail, they jet out to Abu Dhabi in late October for a day/night final in the Sheik Zayed Cricket Stadium against the other semi-finalists.
As for league honours, Richmondshire remain the team to beat – gunning for their fourth title in five years – with Gary Pratt at the helm and having retained their squad from 2015.
