Competition: Win a Scarborough Cricket Club Framed Print (Closed)

February 6, 2020 by John Fuller 88 Comments

Scarborough Cricket Club Poster

*** This competition is now closed ***

****

Cricket Yorkshire has linked up with The Cricketer to offer a fantastic competition prize. Who wants a framed county cricket print of Scarborough to adorn their office or home?

This idyllic scene of North Marine Road at Scarborough Cricket Club has been created exclusively for The Cricketer. The artwork, reminiscent of vintage railway posters, wonderfully captures the view from the deckchairs outside the marquee looking back at the famous pavilion.

Dare I say it, it reminds me of a certain book cover!

It is one of a set of four designs for sale, the others being Kennington Oval, Durham’s Riverside & the Sussex jewel that is Arundel.

The A3 print of Scarborough Cricket Club, on 280gsm paper, comes with a high-quality 20 x 16-inch black frame and white mount.

Hi Yvonne, good luck in the competition. It’s proved a popular one! Scarborough is very special though I like that York has got a chance and is also impressing.

I try to cover a range of club cricket here on the website but always have an eye on the Premier Leagues.
I do an annual round-up of transfers before the season starts which gets some interest.

Hi Bill, it is absolutely the atmosphere, friendly, inclusive, relaxed…as I said in Last of the Summer Wickets, you hear conversations drift over from friends who only ever catch up at the Festival but slip back into chats again as if it were yesterday. I particularly like the tradition of allowing fans onto the outfield. People happily remember that kind of thing connecting them to cricket decades later.

Hey Rachel, not much would be my succinct answer to that question 🙂 I think it’s fashionable to trash seaside towns (sometimes with good reason) but it’s not just the cricket that draws me back to Scarborough again and again. My wife and I did the rail route along the beach last time. The ticket man on the platform was keeping an ear out for the scores from North Marine Road!
