In this content collaboration with FrogBox, we’ll look at ways that cricket clubs can fund their plans for live streaming matches, including benefits for sponsors.
If you’re reading this, let’s assume your cricket club doesn’t yet have a FrogBox but you’ve probably seen the highlights clips from others, perhaps in your league, on social media.
If you want club sponsors to pay for the equipment then here are some ideas and ways to sell the benefits.
(🎉 OFFER: If you purchase Frogbox, use CY24 for 5% Off which is nearly £100).

Why FrogBox?
Hundreds of cricket clubs in the UK now use FrogBox to live stream their matches. It’s a proven way to share your club’s players and performances to a global audience, promote your sponsors online and add a new dimension at your ground.
What are the costs?
There are two elements to getting FrogBox for your cricket club – with a discount of 5% using CY24 (if you order in 2024).
- Streaming kit (£1,400) which includes a FrogBox camera, mast, rechargeable battery and carry case/cables.
- Streaming licence (£350 Year 1 / £400 per year after) – live streaming all matches, automated on-screen graphics, automated match highlights, integration with scoring apps.
What are the benefits for sponsors?
Some sponsors may be happy to support your club regardless – which is great but not to be expected. So, what’s in it for potential sponsors?
Something tangible and long-term – A live streaming sponsor knows what their money is going towards and its lasting benefits for the club.
It raises the profile of the club, can bring in new members, helps with coaching and is a talking point online and offline.
Exposure and reach – There are no limits to how many can see a sponsor message on a live stream and they are prominent. Anyone in the world can watch your club play a senior league match, women and girls’ cup final or a junior game.
Crucially, there are several bites of the cherry for a commercial partner: Those who watch live and those who check out a full match on YouTube afterwards, as well as highlights.
Exclusivity or flexibility – Clubs could secure a sole live streaming sponsor / digital partner for a year covering all games.
From a company’s perspective, they might want either option. With exclusivity, there is extra scope to use all of the slots within a live stream to vary messaging across a season and drive home awareness.
With FrogBox, this includes: A top-right square, up to 8 sponsor boards in breaks of play and pop-ups after the end of overs.
If your club decides to sell a variety of spaces in the live stream then that will lower the cost per sponsor (an easier sell) and could be divided up in terms of the type of game (junior sponsors for junior games).
Existing Sponsors
An advantage of FrogBox is that it’s a new asset to sell to existing sponsors who might want to upgrade their relationship with your club.
Simplicity sells
Do you have loads of free time at work? Thought not. Neither do your potential digital partners. They’re busy so keep it brief.
That does two things neatly. It’s simpler to explain and quicker to make a decision on.
No 4-page pdfs or slideshows.
I like Otley’s straightforward proposal for a Digital Partner on their website. The benefits, cost and example of a live stream.
Northallerton Town Cricket Club bought their FrogBox kit, thanks to contributions from their two main sponsors, SHC Hire Centres and Blades Decorators & Merchants.
The ongoing streaming licence is paid for by the players.
They’ve actually gone a different route (which demonstrates there are lots of ways of getting the result you want) and don’t have a sole Digital Partner.
Instead, 2024 sponsorship options include a Ball Sponsor for all three teams – the company that week will have logos displayed on the screen during the live streamed game at home.
Going that extra step…
Displaying a logo for awareness is useful as a first goal but ultimately, your sponsors want sales. So, how does live streaming help achieve that?
How about a discount code that’s only used on the live stream so your sponsor knows where any sales come from?
With the sponsor boards that display at the start of matches and the end of an over, they’re a large enough graphic that could be used for offers during the year; selling products or services.
You might even like to display sponsor signage in the background of the live feed (Illingworth St Mary’s do this well for Family Building Society) for added exposure.
How about a Club vs Sponsors match (live streamed)?

Hopefully this has got the ideas flowing. Live streaming is a fantastic upgrade that will be around for many years.
