ECB Premier Divisions: Who finished top in Yorkshire?

September 14, 2025 by John Fuller Leave a Comment

A round-up of Yorkshire’s Premier Leagues as titles were decided on the final weekend. (Except Huddersfield Premier Cricket League).

Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League

New Farnley’s drawn home game with Townville ensured the 1st XI finished the season unbeaten in the league. The back-to-back champions also concluded with a record points total for the Premier Division (thanks to the league website for that one).

Captain Alex Lilley lifted a gold-plated Premier Division trophy, specially commissioned by the League in recognition of the achievement. (Not this one in the photo 😁).

The squad have only lost once in all competitions as they’ve won the league, Rigg Bash T20, Heavy Woollen Cup and the Vitality Club T20 Cup (the latter skippered by Aidan Langley). That last piece of silverware was picked up against Wanstead & Snaresbrook at Wormsley on Sunday after an eight-wicket win.

The top four in the final table reads: New Farnley (388), Townville (285), Woodlands (281) & Bradford & Bingley (257).

North Yorkshire & South Durham Cricket League

The Teesside University SHLS Premier League of the NYSD was won by Barnard Castle who ended the 22-game season nine points ahead of second-placed Marton, with last year’s champions Richmondshire back in third.

It went down to the final Saturday and Barney’s six-wicket win at Bishop Auckland scooped the all-important 20pts. Richmondshire also won (at Darlington) while Marton were involved in a dramatic tie at Stokesley with both sides neck and neck on 277.

The top four in the final table reads: Barnard Castle (403), Marton (394), Richmondshire (384) & Hartlepool (350).

Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League

Cleethorpes won the YCSLP though their final match of the season at home against Wakefield Thornes was rained off without a ball being bowled.

The ECB Premier League in South Yorkshire had seen Wakefield Thornes lead for much of the season but they ended in third place with Whitley Hall’s eight-wicket win at Barnsley Woolley Miners enough to grab second.

Mayank Mishra has once again been a key part of Cleethorpes’ challenge with an extraordinary 72 league wickets at an average of 10.5.

The top four in the final table reads: Cleethorpes (206), Whitley Hall (198), Wakefield Thornes (190) & Sheffield Collegiate (178).

Attis Yorkshire Premier League North

It was a straight shoot-out between Castleford or Sheriff Hutton Bridge for the YPLN title and Cas won by six wickets at Woodhouse Grange with David Wainwright (5-27) waving his magic once again, as the hosts were dismissed for 116.

Their ten-point win was enough to take back the crown from Clifton Alliance who had won comfortably last season. Sheriff Hutton Bridge did all they could with an emphatic 195-run win over Hull Zingari after posting 325 but they needed Castleford to slip up.

The top four in the final table reads: Castleford (166), Sheriff Hutton Bridge (158), York (152) & Driffield Town (122).

Walker Timber Huddersfield Premier Cricket League

Rain wiped out all of the ECB Premier Division fixtures on Saturday with sides given the customary 2pts for abandoned fixtures.

It means the spoils can either go to leaders Hoylandswaine (99) & Rastrick (97) with six points up for grabs for a victory and one week to go.

Hoylandswaine’s last completed match was a stunning 223-run over Honley after they scored 592-5.

Unusually, the HPCL has a final round of matches on Saturday 20 September with Swaine at home to fifth-placed Golcar and Rastrick at home to ninth-placed Scholes.

The top four in the table reads: Hoylandswaine (99), Rastrick (97), Almondbury Wesleyan (73) & Skelmanthorpe (70).

🏆 COMING UP: We’ll have other news, stats and round-ups from leagues in Yorkshire in the coming weeks.
