The 4 Probate & Wills Yorkshire South Premier League are looking forward to a new zoned League Cup competition as their 2020 season begins on Saturday.
It will be played under Royal London Cup rules, 40-overs-a-side, starting at noon. The caveat is that it will be red-ball cricket and played in whites.
The two top clubs in South Yorkshire cricket will meet on Saturday 19 September to decide an overall winner.
Due to the ECB guidelines for adapted play because of Covid-19, we’re seeing Yorkshire cricket leagues be creative to ensure some cricket gets underway.
To that end, I like that the Yorkshire South Premier League has relaxed player registration rules just for this season to allow a cricketer to play nearer where they live.
There are two zones: East & West with 4pts for a win, 2 for a tie with each club playing home and away; a total of 10 group fixtures.

Yorkshire South Premier League Transfers for 2020
These transfers are included as a pre-Covid 19 snapshot and as I’ve mentioned, there is now flexibility with who can play for which club in 2020.
That said, the annual transfers for Premier Leagues are always of interest to Cricket Yorkshire readers so I’ve featured them here.
Yorkshire South Premier League has no new overseas registrations. I’ve been told the South African cricketer at Hallam – Andre Bradford – has remained in the country since last season and hopes to become England-qualified.
I will do separate articles on all 4 Premier Leagues including transfers and the format of competition for 2020 in the coming weeks.
