Yorkshire Women visited Harrogate Cricket Club on Sunday for the Royal London One Day Cup against Middlesex; a chance to see how Mark Loker’s squad fared in this fifty-over competition.

Packed with England internationals from Lauren Winfield to Katherine Brunt, Yorkshire had firepower in abundance, on paper at least, to cover everything the visitors could throw at them.

On a day where hats, woollen blankets and flasks of tea were the order of the day, the rain thankfully stayed away and Yorkshire duly rolled up their sleeves and recorded a comfortable victory.

Batting first, Middlesex mustered 174 all out – there was a clatter of wickets when they were reasonably well set for a more challenging score with Brunt using all her pace and skills to pick up wickets in successive balls.

Meanwhile, Katie Levick, the Sheffield leggie, bagged three wickets with Yorkshire captain Winfield able to call upon a breadth of spin and seam options like Danielle Hazell’s offbreaks.

In reply, Yorkshire Women rocketed to a nine-wicket victory thanks to 99 not out from Lauren Winfield and 69 from Australian overseas signing Beth Mooney – who both looked a class act at the crease.
