1. About these terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses cricketyorkshire.com, and to the agreement you make with us if you become a Free or Paid Member. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
Cricket Yorkshire is run by John Fuller, trading as Cricket Yorkshire. When these terms say "we" or "us", they mean Cricket Yorkshire. "You" means you, the reader or member.
2. Using the website
Most of Cricket Yorkshire is free to read without signing up. Some content, features and benefits are available only to Free or Paid Members.
We write carefully and correct mistakes when we find them, but our content is for general information. It isn't professional advice (for example on insurance, funding or club governance), so please check anything important before relying on it.
We may change, pause or remove parts of the site from time to time. We'll try to give members notice of any change that significantly affects what they've paid for (see section 4).
You must not misuse the site. That includes trying to get unauthorised access, introducing viruses or malicious code, scraping or bulk-copying content, or using the site in a way that breaks the law.
3. Membership
There are three ways to use Cricket Yorkshire:
| Level | Cost | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Reader | Free, no sign-up | Most articles and features |
| Free Member | Free | The Boundary Notes newsletter, commenting, discussion threads and entry to competitions |
| Paid Member | £4 a month or £30 a year | Everything for Free Members, plus the monthly behind-the-scenes newsletter from John's desk, a paid member-only exclusive, and other members-only content |
To become a member you need to give us a working email address. You must be 16 or over to become a Free Member, and 18 or over to become a Paid Member. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, as that's how you sign in.
You can close your membership account at any time from your account page or by emailing us. Unsubscribing from emails and closing your account are different things: you can stop the newsletter and stay a member.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example by repeatedly breaking the comment rules in section 6. If you're a Paid Member and we close your account for a reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund the unused part of your subscription.
4. Paid membership
Paid membership costs £4 a month or £30 a year. The price, how often you'll be charged and what's included are shown on the sign-up page before you pay.
Renewal. Your membership renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and you'll be charged the current price, until you cancel. We'll email annual members before each renewal.
Payment. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We don't see or store your full card details. If a payment fails, we may pause your Paid benefits until it's sorted out.
Price changes. If we change the price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you. The new price starts from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.
What you're buying. Paid membership gives you access to the members' content and benefits described on our membership page for as long as your membership lasts. Content may change over time, but we won't significantly reduce what Paid Members get without telling you first. If we do, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused part of an annual membership.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account page on the website, in a few clicks. You can also email support@cricketyorkshire.com. When you cancel, you won't be charged again, and you keep your Paid benefits until the end of the month or year you've already paid for. After that, you become a Free Member unless you close your account.
Your 14-day right to cancel. Under UK consumer law you have a right to cancel within 14 days. We also extend this to annual renewals:
- If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we'll refund that payment in full.
- If you're an annual member and cancel within 14 days of a renewal payment, we'll refund that renewal in full.
Outside those windows, we don't give refunds for part of a month or year, except where these terms say so or the law requires it.
Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with, within 14 days of your cancellation.
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer. For more about those rights, see Citizens Advice.
6. Comments and discussion threads
Members can comment on articles and join discussion threads. We want these to feel like a good conversation in the pavilion bar: lively, opinionated and friendly. Disagree with us or each other as much as you like, but play the ball, not the player.
Please don't post anything that:
- is abusive, threatening, hateful or harassing, including about players, umpires or clubs
- is defamatory, or makes claims about a named person you couldn't stand behind
- shares someone else's personal information without their permission
- is spam, advertising or self-promotion we haven't agreed to
- copies someone else's work without permission
- is illegal, or encourages anyone to break the law
Your posts are yours. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give us permission to show it on the site and in our newsletters, and to quote it in our own articles, with your display name. You can ask us to remove your comments at any time.
Moderation. We may edit or remove posts that break these rules, and suspend or close the accounts of people who keep breaking them. We don't check every post before it appears. If you see something that shouldn't be there, email support@cricketyorkshire.com with a URL and we'll look at it promptly.
Views in comments are those of the people who post them, not Cricket Yorkshire's.
7. Competitions
Our competitions are free to enter and open to Free and Paid Members. Each competition has its own rules, shown with it, covering the closing date, who can enter, the prize and how the winner is chosen. If those rules differ from this section, the competition's own rules apply.
Unless a competition says otherwise:
- you must be 18 or over and live in the UK
- one entry per person
- the winner is picked at random from all valid entries after the closing date
- we'll contact the winner by email; if they don't reply within 14 days, we may pick another winner
- prizes can't be swapped for cash
Some prizes come from our partners. We only pass your contact details to a prize partner if you tick the box on the entry form saying you're happy for us to. Otherwise, your details stay with us.
8. Partners, affiliate links and other websites
Partners. Cricket Yorkshire is supported by a small number of cricket-related partners. Anything funded by or produced with a partner is clearly labelled as Partner Content. Listings in our Suppliers Guide are paid for by the suppliers listed.
Affiliate links. Some links, particularly in our reviews and buying guides, are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never decides what we recommend.
Other websites. We link to other websites when we think they're useful. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. A link doesn't mean we endorse them.
9. Copyright and using our content
Everything on Cricket Yorkshire, including articles, photos, design and the newsletter, belongs to Cricket Yorkshire or the people who've licensed it to us. © Cricket Yorkshire 2026. All rights reserved.
You're welcome to:
- read, print or save articles for your own personal, non-commercial use
- share links to our articles anywhere you like
- quote short extracts, as long as you credit Cricket Yorkshire and link to the original
Please don't republish whole articles or photos, put members-only content anywhere public, or use our content commercially without our written permission. If you'd like to use something, email support@cricketyorkshire.com and ask. We often say yes, especially to clubs.
Other trademarks and names on the site belong to their owners.
10. Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't foreseeable when you agreed to these terms.
Cricket Yorkshire is for personal use. We're not responsible for business losses, such as lost profits or lost business opportunities, arising from your use of the site. That includes how a club acts on our practical guides.
We'll do our best to keep the site running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We're not responsible for delays or problems caused by things outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility we can't legally limit, or affects your legal rights as a consumer.
11. Changes, the law and getting in touch
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the law changes or we add new features. We'll post the new version here with its date. If a change significantly affects Paid Members, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
Complaints and questions. You can email support@cricketyorkshire.com and we'll aim to reply within 5 working days - depending on the complexity of the request. Most replies are within 24 hours.
